Yu and I have a lot of differences but there is one thing we are very much alike and that is our love for food. When traveling, we always look for the best restaurant where we can indulge and spoil our tummy. London is known to be one of the most expensive cities in the world so dining in the top rated restaurants is something we need to discern. Haha. But since it’s our first time to travel outside Asia and its our fourth anniversary, we decided to dine somewhere special.
We booked a Michelin-starred restaurant here in London, Heston Blumenthal. The term “Michelin Star” is a hallmark of fine dining quality. It’s like a star rating in the hotel industry but unlike the hotels, only few restaurants can be awarded Michelin star/s. Michelin star awards starts from 0 to 3, 3 as the highest/ The award is on the basis of anonymous reviews where the reviewers focus on quality, personality, mastery of technique and consistency of the food A Michelin star award only reviews and focuses entirely on the food but not the place. Here’s what the stars mean (Source: Tripsavvy):
- One star: A good place to stop on your journey, indicating a very good restaurant in its category, offering cuisine prepared to a consistently high standard.
- Two stars: A restaurant worth a detour, indicating excellent cuisine and skillfully and carefully crafted dishes of outstanding quality
- Three stars: A restaurant worth a special journey, indicating exceptional cuisine where diners eat extremely well, often superbly. Distinctive dishes are precisely executed, using superlative ingredients.
Restaurants aim these stars because only few of the restaurants are awarded with these stars. Among all the Michelin-starred restaurants in London, we chose, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, a two-starred Michelin restaurant. Heston Blumental is a British Celebrity Chef. He owns one of the four restaurants in Great Britain to have three Michelin Stars. It’s our first time to try a Michelin-starred restaurant and we never regret it. It’s pricey, yes but the experience and the delish masterpiece we indulge is worth every British pound we spent.
We waited for few minutes before we entered the main hall. Though we already had our reservations, the space is quite limited and exclusive so they only accommodate few. While waiting we were seated at the Bar and since I am too hungry and we don’t drink. I ordered buttered chicken! Yup! I ordered a buttered chicken in the bar! Lol!
After about 20 minutes, we entered the dining hall. Since the guests are quite formal and prim, I did not take a photo of the place. Haha! (Baka mahalata na first timers kami!)
The service is similar to the fine dining restaurants we’ve tried but the fooooood! Gaaaaaaahhhhh!!! We just tried two main course: steak and fish. It’s the best steak we have tried so far!
We got a free dessert because it’s our anniversary! Hahaha. Here’s their menu.
