This blog is in fact the continuation of my other post, “Travel Guide to Singapore”. This blog is about our hotel and Marina Bay Shoppes. This tells about Hotel and Marina Bay Shoppes.
Fragrance Hotel- Emerald
So from Changi International Airport, we rode the airport shuttle going to Fragrance Hotel- Emerald. We booked our hotel months before our travel date to ensure cheaper rate. Also, it is always beneficial to book your hotels online rather than walking in because there are times wherein hotels are fully booked and walking in may cost higher rate. Fragrance Hotel- Emerald is the cheapest decent hotel we can get. It costs us Php 2,000.00 per night good for 2 persons (breakfast not included). It is located in 20 Lorong 6 Geylang, Geylang, Singapore. The hotel is near the main road where you can ride a taxi or a bus but a bit far from the MRT station. The location is safe though as there are many people along the road and a lot of cheaper restaurants within the vicinity. The hotel is also livable and clean, just enough for backpacker travellers. Each room has a hot and cold shower, a private bath room and a cabled TV. Will I recommend this hotel? Hmm. Maybe for those who are in tight budget, but for those who can afford higher rates, maybe look for a hotel which is near the MRT station. Because we had looooooong walks getting to and from the MRT station. Also if you are travelling in group, dormitory type room is always cheaper.
Marina Bay Shoppes
After checking in at Fragrance Hotel, we just dropped our baggages in our room, had a quick retouched then headed right straight to Marina Bay Shoppes to have our dinner. We asked the hotel’s receptionist for directions but we relied more on Google Maps. Like I said, having a pocket wifi is really essential when travelling as this will be your access to Google Maps, your travel best friend. 😉
Unfortunately on our first bus attempt, we got LOST. Haha. We missed the bus stop where we should alight. We went to the driver and ask him about the stop to Marina Bay. Good thing there are Filipinas behind him who overheard and asked us, “Sa Marina Bay ba kayo? Nako! Nalampasan niyo na ang bus stop. Baba nalang kayo sa next stop tapos tawid kayo. Doon na kayo sumakay ng bus pabalik.” Good thing Filipino’s hospitality is always present wherever we are located. Mabuhay! So, we alighted the next bus stop and rode another bus to Marina Bay. This time focusing on Google Maps.
We arrived at Marina Bay Shoppes a bit late, hence we were not able to try their ice skating rink. Nonetheless, we ate dinner there. One meal costs us S$5 while a cam of coke costs us S$2. The Shoppes at Marina is one of Singapore’s Luxury Shopping Mall and also a hub for exciting line up of dining option. This is located just in front of Marina Bay Sands. After munching, we strolled within the vicinity and were amazed by the beaut of its architectural design. Then, we went outside and saw the magnificent Marina Bay Sands.
From a distance we saw the famous Gardens by the Bay. We thought the place was near but upon attempting, we felt tired and decided to go back to our hotel. So Hello Google Maps. We walked towards Bayfront Station for 2 minutes and rode DT line to Bugis Station (2 stops). Afterwhich, rode EW line towards to Pasir Ris and alighted at Kallang Station (2 stops). And then we walked for 9 minutes going to Fragrance Hotel.
